Sonalika International Tractors Limited is targeting a 15 per cent market share in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the financial year 2017, up from 6.5 per cent it currently accounts for in these two states.
Sonalika introducing three new models focussing on specialised requirements in various agricultural crops, DL Rana, Director, Sales and Marketing, Sonalika International Tractors, said that the company plans to introduce several other models during the year.
The company, which is amongst the three largest tractor makers in the country, is in the process of commissioning a new manufacturing unit later this year with an outlay of Rs. 500 crores, which will enable the company to introduce more models.
The company predicted that the country may see total tractor sales of about 6 to 6.5 lakh during this fiscal. During the first nine months ended December 31, 2015, the total tractor sales in the country was about 3,88,274 units.
The company has gained market share in the country from 8 per cent to 12 per cent in the last four years and expects to further increase its share with new manufacturing plant.
